Eating Disorders Awareness Week (EDAW) is an annual campaign led by eating disorder charity, Beat, dedicated to raising awareness about the complexities of eating disorders, the importance of early intervention, support for those living with and affected by eating disorders and of reducing the stigma associated with these serious mental illnesses.
To mark EDAW this year, Edinburgh Mental Health has collated a series of blog posts contributed by members of our community whose research focuses on eating disorders. Blogs exploring a wide range of topics, including a largely unknown and misunderstood eating disorder, Avoidant/Restrictive Food Intake Disorder (ARFID), the focus of Beat's campaign this year, will be published here from 26th February to 3rd March, so please stay tuned!
We hope you find this series informative and insightful, and that it provides a window into some of the important work our colleagues are undertaking in the field of mental health both within the University of Edinburgh and beyond. We are always open to collaboration, so please do get in touch if you would like to contribute to a future mental health research campaign, guest blog post or get involved in organising an event. We would love to hear from you!
