About Us

Edinburgh Mental Health is an interdisciplinary research network that works across the University of Edinburgh's three colleges to facilitate the production of cutting edge, challenge-led, and collaborative research in the field of mental health. The network is lead by our management team of three co-directors and network coordinator and is supported by our cross-college steering group. We currently have over 300 members from various  career stages and disciplinary backgrounds, including researchers based at or affiliated with the University, as well as a wide range of external collaborators and partner organisations.

Our Aims

The University of Edinburgh is internationally recognised for its mental health research, with strengths across a wide range of fields including anthropology, arts, cultural heritage, developmental science, education, ethics, geography, global health, humanities, informatics, law, neuroscience, psychiatry, psychology, and population health sciences. Few universities in the UK offer such depth and breadth of expertise.

EMH aims to bring together these diverse strengths from across the University to create an inclusive infrastructure that supports new interdisciplinary collaborations and grant proposals. We also aim to establish a clear research profile for the public, government, funders, and third sector organisations.
